I wrote this while the world is on the brink of nuclear war. Every night Brad and I listen to experts discuss current events. We hear the fear, anger, and despair in their voices and it matches those feelings within us. We head to the Big Room not to avoid facing the dire straits we're in, but to give us the strength we need to keep living and responding in whatever way we can. Not going to let the crusaders of cruelty keep us from letting the Light in and following the old-way wisdom tracks left by those who came before us.
The Big Room is Everything! ❤️ You have said this over and over and over in so many beautifully poetic ways…I wonder why it is so hard for us to get it??? Maybe we are afraid of letting go of control???…Another question for you: I am guessing that you and Brad have considered NOT watching/listening to the news…I would love to hear your thoughts about that..Many thanks ❤️❤️❤️ for your beautiful, inspiring and challenging !!! Posts.
Hi Adair, it's a good question about the news. We watch the news because we feel it's important to stay informed and involved. However, there's a lot of room for tinkering with the sources and amount of information one consumes. We like to watch certain experts on Youtube give their analyses. It helps us feel sane and even hopeful sometimes. But we're careful about consuming large amounts of repetitive news stories. It can quickly pull us into an anger/despair pit. We make sure to keep news consumption a smaller portion of our overall "mind food pyramid."
In the evenings, Brad turns on the Youtube experts while I make dinner, but when I hear the jazz piano videos come on, I know we've reached our limit and it's time for us to jump back into the Big River. It's so important to keep our Big-to-small room ratio right every day. That's the ancient spiritual struggle, of course. We feel that if the Civil Rights activists and great spiritual peace and justice workers over the eons could actively meet the moment on earth while keeping their hearts and minds tethered to the Big Room, then we ought to be able to do so too. Watching too much news, however, can actually backfire by keeping us passive consumers of info rather than active participants in supporting the social field in whatever way we can, which might be organizing or it might be cooking for people. Let's just say, these days one doesn't have to read too much news to feel the necessary leveling in order to experience the heart rising!
Amen amen amen! Always perfect timing for me, your missives are. Thank you!
Going to the room vroom vroom vroom
Yes!

Thank goodness for the Good that can’t stop giving.

Thank you for this. It very much parallels the path I'm currently on.
May we all be on the path to the Big Room!
Indeed!
